In early February 2023, Starlizard Integrity Services worked together with Professors Declan Hill and Miguel Maduro and leading sports integrity expert Nicholas Raudenski to help deliver the Advanced Certificate in Sports Law programme at the Católica Global School of Law in Lisbon, Portugal.
The three-day course module, entitled “Investigating and Enforcing in Sports: Match-Fixing, Anti-Doping and Corruption” was attended by 35 students, ranging from masters students to integrity practitioners and investigative journalists.
SIS delivered sessions on understanding betting markets, how to use them in match-fixing investigations and building successful cases, constructing case studies students to dissect, analyse and present their findings on. SIS also delivered a performance analysis workshop and a governance session on the importance of independent investigations in sport.
Other topics covered included integrity in eSports, anti-doping investigations and a session with a former football match-fixer.
We were also delighted to offer a number of Starlizard Integrity Services Scholarships to deserving students to enable them to participate on the programme, the overall aim of which is to make a positive impact, both in the short and long terms, on the capacity and skill sets of those working in or seeking to work in the sports integrity arena.
