Starlizard Integrity Services were proud to take part in the incredible ‘This Country v That Country’ charity football match in support of the National Children’s Football Alliance (NCFA), one of our two official charity partners. The aim of the match was to raise money for underprivileged children to attend the 2022 Global Peace Games organised by the NCFA.
This was a unique game of football that saw two halves played in two different countries on the same day. Starlizard Integrity Services formed part of a team that included members of the cast of the multi-Bafta winning BBC mockumentary comedy This Country.
The first half was kicked off in north London by the Lord Mayor of Islington early on Saturday morning against a very competent Arsenal in the Community side, before a sprint across land and sea to Messines, Belgium to play the second half against an FC Bruges team on the unique Peace Pitch on Flanders Field – the site of the remarkable Christmas Day truces football match played between opposing armies during the First World War in 1914.
Paul Cooper, star of This Country and director and co-founder of the NCFA, said: “It was such a memorable day. The football was great, the players were fantastic and the sun never stopped shining in both countries. All the monies raised will go to the 2022 Global Peace Games. We would like to thank everyone that sponsored This Country v That Country and all the people that made it happen”.
At the time of writing the match has raised nearly £8,000. You can donate to the NCFA and learn more about the amazing work they do here.
