Starlizard Integrity Services (SIS) and the European University Institute (EUI) are proud to announce the formation of a scholarship scheme aimed at benefitting students wishing to participate in the EUI’s ‘Integrity in Sports – The Existential Crisis of Sports Governance, Corruption and Match-Fixing’ executive training programme.

The Integrity in Sports programme provides an intensive, hands-on and practical education: it is developed by practitioners, for practitioners. Participants will learn the key concepts, gain access to the tools and resources available and become equipped with the robust skills needed to combat sports corruption.

The programme is rigorous and taught in clear, direct language by the leading experts from around the world, including Professor Declan Hill (investigative journalist, academic and author of “The Fix”) Professor Miguel Poiares Maduro (former chairman of the FIFA Governance Committee, Portuguese government minister and director of the EUI School of Transnational Governance) and Nicholas Raudenski (former integrity FIFA and UEFA Integrity Officer). There will also be an anti-match fixing masterclass on ‘crime scene investigation’ – analysing behaviours in the betting markets and on the field of play – delivered by experts from Starlizard Integrity Services.

Uniquely, the programme further includes input from former match-fixers, who will talk about their methods and means. Students will hear from corrupted players and referees, as well as those fighting on the front line against match-fixing and corruption: sports officials, police investigators and prosecutors. Academia will supplement this through a combination of theoretical frameworks and real-world experiences of the challenges faced in fighting corruption in institutional settings.

Starlizard Integrity Services are keen to invest in the bettering of the sports integrity landscape and the Scholarship Fund will allow eight of the most deserving applicants to participate on the programme
