The Goal
In 2021 we were approached by a major football governing body and asked to examine a football match about which match-fixing allegations had publicly been made.
The Tactics
We analysed the betting markets associated with the game in question, looking for any irregular activity that could indicate a suspicious match. Our performance analysts also studied match footage to assess the behaviour of participants on the pitch, searching for anything that might suggest the allegations might be well founded.
The Final Score
We concluded that there was no evidence of integrity concerns on this occasion, with nothing in our in-depth analysis suggesting a manipulation had taken place. We provided our report to the governing body, who were able to confidently rely on our assessment in deciding whether or not to proceed with further investigations.
